It's a similar issue with Apple when you try to code for an older version of iBooks/Books but the new version has the fix and any workaround won't work on the new version.

OMG, yes. At least Amazon does update older Kindles, to some extent. I mean, all the not-K2s have been updated to much, much newer standards. But Apple? Oh, holy hell no. Why update older iBooks/Books apps, when they can try to force you to buy new hardware?
