The UI is so bizarre I've never managed to remember how to use it for anything else from one session to the next. (Well, that's a lie: I've also hacked its ebook conversion fairly extensively for use converting an ebook into a paper book: back then, its PDF conversion couldn't do different margins on facing pages or page numbers properly, so I had to add that. But that's different, that's Python and the command line, it's much easier to grasp than Calibre's, ah, shall we say *unique* user interface.)
I tested out the following and you will pretty much be able to see the periodicals in your Kindle arranged by date.

Preferences > Plugboard

at the top select the format and send to email.
Paste in the title field: {date} - {title}

Don't put the date on the end because if the title is too long the date won't show. Unless you shorten the title.

It will show up like this: 20 Sep 2020 - This Periodical's Title

You can sort by dates now when you title sort on your device, as well as Content and Devces.

If you want to change it around with the date formats, create a custom column that either copies the date and set it with the format you want, or reset how the dates show in the date field. If you go the cusom column route then switch out that column name for the {date} in the plugboard.

Easy!
