An app called Book Shout was supposed to include an app for the Apple Watch, but I don't think it ever worked. It's been a while since I looked at it.
Editing to add...I downloaded BookShout to my phone, then installed it on the watch. When you launch it on the watch, you get a message saying "Reader Coming Soon." That is the way it's been since I first downloaded it in February of 2018. So they've never released a working Watch app.

For extended wrist reading, you would obviously need to get an accessory to hold your elbow at shoulder level.
Thanks for the reminder about BookShout. I installed it a long time ago to see what the Watch app was like, and haven’t looked at it since. The Watch app will apparently display your reading stats (of which I have none). Time to uninstall.
I still have hopes someone will deliver a reading app for Watch. Obviously using RSVP like Spritz.
(Wish you could have the Watch on the inside of the wrist and have it aware of that. It would probably nix heart rate measures, but it would be better for working in close quarters as it would be more protected. And it would also be more comfortable for reading....)
