I enjoy whining as much as the next person but unfortunately for me Amazon's notification system works well.

Yeah. Plus, for every package that's late, for me at least half a dozen arrive really early. Fairly often I've broken stuff one evening, ordered a replacement on Amazon and had it arrive before I woke up the next morning. (And I don't live in a big city nor particularly close to an Amazon warehouse.)
