Calibre Custom Column with Dropdown List

LS cannot change the main Calibre Library View Qt design in the way you request.

I would suggest you simply use Metadata Bulk Edit to change that custom column, but Calibre does not support doing so for any flavor of datatype Comments, regardless of the flavor's virtual sub-datatype.

In the meantime, simply sort your books appropriately then mass-change the selected books en masse via the Job Spy plugin using one or both of the GUI Tools shown in the attached image.

If you are feeling both highly optimistic and lucky, you might ask Kovid for a new custom column datatype (or new virtual datatype via the Display which is officially used for that purpose, such as for short-text like a Title/Name that is non-HTML versus long-text like Comments that is HTML) that provides what you ask.
