Your examples, books not downloading because of a lack of wifi and/or power would thus be negated because the books are 1) tied to your ACCOUNT not the device, and 2) are not on the device to be processed, and in OP's case never would be.
Agree BUT You Fail to See is the E-Books ARE Connected to the Device Since the Device IS Still Connected to the Account of the Person that sent it to Kobo to begin with! Not the person that Kobo sent it to! DUH!
