This looks like data taken from test, or maybe it is used for a demo mode mode. Some of the books @Gadgetguy listed are in the database. But, as the Forma and Clara HD images are different firmware, Kobo have probably changed the book choice for whatever these are being used for.
From that, if you do a factory reset, you will see these books if you don't go through the proper setup. They probably get deleted as part of the setup. Along with the database and related files.
And what I had forgotten, was that when I got the Forma, I plugged it in and took a copy of everything on the books partition. Looking at that, I can see the series that @Gadgetguy mentioned in the database. Did @Gadgetguy do the setup properly, or hacked the database? Doing the latter would probably explain the discrepancies when using the device.

Very interesting. So maybe the unit is not used - and fingerprints and lose USB plug are normal?
But Kobo staff should have known about this, no?
When I contacted them (and sent screenshots) they agreed with me that this is not normal.
Possibly it IS normal and customer service does not know what is going on?
And I did hack the unit to use it as Kobo was down at the time - so I had no other option...
Since then I properly activated.
I am impressed however by the expertise of people on this forum: I am definitely getting a better understanding of what is going on.
