The point I was trying to make is that if Kobo are not calculating the total screenfuls per book (as shown in the footer) correctly then it's not altogether surprising that the 'x of total' in the footer is also incorrect. It wouldn't surprise me if x is being calculated as '%read multiplied by erroneous total', although I have no inside info on how the calculation is actually done.

I'm 100% sure that none of my books have "missing items" in the ToC so I don't think this is contributing to the kepub pagecount issue on my devices.
