You seem to be insisting that people who can and do still use KSM should stop doing so. There is no risk that the software, running well on your existing device, well "cause your Kobo to get bricked". As long as I have and keep a device I will try to keep it functioning with the software that does what I want it to. When I get new devices, with different software requirements, I will obviously be using some different software.

Fortunately, my favorite ereading software, KOReader, runs on many devices and is constantly being updated/improved. So, I have no need for Kobo firmware "updates", to enjoy an ever improving reading experience. (I also get the benefit of having a common user interface while reading, over a number of devices, new and old.)

So, I see no reason to "give it up" and for me at least KSM is in no way Dead on my Kobo devices.
