In the past I have used, Palm and WinCE,but always Mobi. So I bought the cybook fo this reason. works in a very similar way to a hand held, but slower and much longer battery life.
All my past devices have been touch screen, so I really wanted a reader that did not have a touch screen, it is really annoying when the screen is touched in error and the page changes, or some other function happens.
If touch screen could be disabled then that would be ok, but some people would then complain it takes to many actions to activate it again.
I have been using mobipocket for over 10 years, yes it's been around that long and I have been waiting for a reader with a larger screen.
I have collins on my cybook, also on my palm treo 680 where I also have mobi installed.
It is quicker to look up a word on the palm, as I can use the touch screen and it has a faster processor.
On the cybook I have to click down through each word, until I come to the word I want.
For me this is quick enough and do not find it to be a problem.
A book reader is intended to be light and have a long battery life.
A faster processor will need more power and a larger battery.
So you have to decide which you want. For me it was the cybook because it is light, easy to read and has long battery life and most important came with mobi.
If you want something fast, don't wait for any new book readers (I have been waiting for the cybook for 10 years) , get a hand held. WinCE or Palm, you can run mobi on both.
On ebay you can get these very cheap. Older Palm include sony clie.
These have very nice screens, the black and white ones have long battery life for a hand held (you can also read in the dark), and they have a touch screen and fast processor, so looking up words will be as quick as my treo.
Hope this helps
