I found this thread interesting. In my case, it's the Kindle whose battery lasts longer. Of course, I keep the Whispernet antenna turned off all the time and only turn it on when I have the Kindle plugged into the charger. I'll buy a book or two through the web browser and then let them all download the next time I turn on the Kindle. I also don't make any attempt to turn my Kindle into an all-purpose Internet appliance.

The Sony, on the other hand, will run down in about a week, even if I haven't read a single page on it. Given that this is my "back-up" reader, it's more likely to be left to sit with being used. I'm actually using it a lot more right now as I've loaned my Kindle to my daughter. The battery is lasting about a week while reading, which leads me to wonder what background processing is going on when the reader is "idle".
