You might want to take a look at the QuirkLogic Papyr or the Fujitsu Quaderno - they’re 13.3” devices and look to be great for reading papers, although quite pricey. There’s a YouTuber, MorningCoach, (https://www.youtube.com/c/morningcoach) who’s got some reviews of them and the Remarkable (just the RM1 at the moment) which give an idea of them in use for reading/marking up pdfs and for making notes.
