We had tried to keep my mother's machine and my wife's grandmothers machine working. We had them repaired several times over the last 10 years. The repairs never held long. It took years to let them go, but finally we sold them cheap to someone who wanted to mess with trying to fix them, and we bought a new Husqvarna. I don't know if it'll last to become an heirloom, but it's such a comparative pleasure to use, my wife is happily sewing her little heart out on it, far more than she sewed with either of the "sentimental" machines. We have face masks for days, as the kids say.
