That's pretty much what I am finding. I have far to many pages in the lists for me to actually have a chance of getting to a particular book by typing in a page number. Or going to the books I added in May or something like that. I was using the "Go to page" function to get to a random page (if typing "123" or "246" can be considered random). I was doing this as get away from the books on the first few screen. Just as I sometimes change the sorting so they turn up in a different order. With the scrollbar, I just tap somewhere, and I get a set of books and scroll back or forwards until something catches my eye.
Otherwise, I just do a search. Or use the Authors or Series tab. And very occasionally, collections.
