Moving the "TOC tab" to the Right Panel -- Suggestion for the next version of Sigil?
Hi All!
I have a suggestion for the next version of Sigil as titled.
The purpose of Moving the "TOC tab" from the left panel to the right panel is to improve the efficiency of TOC operations.
The following are the proposed steps in achieving this purpose:
Step#1: Moving the "TOC Tab" to the Right Panel as shown in fig.01 (pls. see attached file)
which means that there will be 2 tabs on the left-panel:
-- the "TOC Tab"
-- &the "Book Browser Tab"
Step#2: set "Ctrl+Shift+T"
as the default shortcut key to run the "TOC Edit" screen,
which means the default "sigil.ini" file will be updated with:
9\id=MainWindow.EditTOC
9\keySequence=Ctrl+Shift+T
Step#3: Simplify the "TOC Edit" screen to
the screen as shown in fig.03
which contains only the "add new", "delete",...etc, buttons, as the "TOC" has already been there in the left-panel and seems a duplication if it is not removed in the "TOC Edit" Screen.
The simplified "TOC Edit" screen is sugguested to be embedded in the "Middle-Panel", because you seldom edit the page while you edit the TOC,
-> provided that Step#4 has been completed.
Step#4: Automatically add a "new blank HTML file" to the "Text Container" when a new TOC title is created due to an "add new" action as operated in Step#3
-> the name of the new HTML file will be "s001.xhtml" for simplicity (was "Section0001.xhtml"); and will be remained unchanged if the user later changes the TOC title starting with non-english character,e.g "海洋生物"
-> the name of the new HTML file will be renamed to, e.g "Introduction.xhtml", if the new TOC title is then renamed to the title "Introduction" with all the characters in English;
-> the name of the new HTML file will be renamed to, e.g "Human_Body_001.xhtml", if the new TOC title is then renamed to a title ended with non-english characters, e.g "Human Body 人體".
Hope the Developers will consider this suggestion for the next version of Sigil!
Thanks for any kinds of help!
