Mine started Oct 2009 and it took to the end of Jan 2010 for me to enter my dead tree collection (almost 1K worth) with basic sanity (Author-Title) and a cover, if the Add from ISBN did not get a cover, I slapped the book on my trusty HP4c. This was all done over Remote Desktop connection using my Laptop in the storage for entry (Calibre was on my desktop in my home office). It took a couple of YEARS to chase and beat the metadata into submission , in the meantime, I kept buying more (e)books
