You need the serial number from a Kindle eInk ereader that is registered to your Amazon account. The serial number is used as the key for decryption so you'll need to enter it in the deDRM plugin configuration. Without the registered device, the Download and transfer via USB will be greyed out.

I tested this a couple of times after purchasing and registering the Kindle. The K4PC app is handier but suspenders and belt never hurts.
