Having read in the dark last night the front light on the Color is, as others have said, considerably brighter than the Voyage - I also have the light set very low on mine so it's very noticeable especially in the dark.
The greyer screen on the Color does need the light set brighter than I would on the Voyage.
(Also spent too much time last night playing sudoku and klondike!)
