Really? I vaguely seem to remember that in 2010 when I bought my first Kobo, it was $149 Cdn. compared to the Kindle at $259 US (at that time, the Canadian dollar was worth about 5% less than the United States dollar). Shortly after B&N dropped the price of the Nook to $199 US and Sony dropped the price of their low end (PRS-300???) tp $149 US. Amazon responded by dropping the low end Kindle to $189 US. B&N responded by dropping the Nook to $149 US and Amazon announced the new Kindle WiFi would be priced at $139 when it was going to be released in Aug. 2010.

Sorry but that does not seem to agree with your statement that Amazon is the reason that e-Ink readers got cheap.
