@The_Ad, which application is that 2nd screenshot from? I really like how the popup has not just the extra colors (which is standard in most readers) but also the formatting options like strikethrough all right there to choose from immediately.
@Kovid, as fantastic as the current Calibre iteration is, needing to enter the note window to select the highlight formatting is likely my final qualm. If I use strikethrough, for example, its likely a one-off thing rather than what I want my default quick highlight format to be. And if I am using multiple colors, it would be nice to have them available right away rather than having to enter the 2nd menu.
So, my suggestion is to allow for the popup bar to be customizable with all available highlighting/underlining formats. If someone wants 0 or 10 shown, that's up to them. Perhaps have highlights and underline on the 1st line of the popup bar and the other commands on the 2nd. Or have some sort of wrapping beyond a certain total number to make it even on each line.
