1. dropbox is absolutely fine for storing COPIES of your library. just have a local PC (desktop or laptop) as the master copy
2. to replace stuff in dropbox, you add it to the local dropbox folder on your PC and leave dropbox to manage the upload and sync - that is the ONLY reliable method. you should not use upload via browser to dropbox.com as that messes up the calibre subfolders
3. anything deleted in dropbox is actually still there in a deleted files area for 30 days. so if you lost a folder, go to dropbox.com -> login -> deleted files, and undelete it
