Question Why eInk screens poorly render text without a full refresh?

Hi,
I think that that is not only specific to Kobos, but I'm experiencing it with my Libra, and I've experienced it before on my Glo HD. The thing is: I have very sharp eyes, and I *hate* seeing the fonts rendering like if it was in 167 ppi before a full-screen refresh.
I know I could set the refresh to each page, but overtime this will, maybe, slowly reduce the lifespan of the screen (maybe, but I don't think so).

But my question here is not about lifespan;
TL;DR: Does anyone knows why, without a full refresh, the text looks fussy and not sharp?
