I'm with you on all of the above.
Regarding the counter top I think it warrants a complaint as CRussel said, unfortunately it is common for the companies to discard responsibilities but if you force the issue and don’t give up when you are right they have to honor their responsibilities. And I would say that if they advertise the warranty they have to honor it.
I’m known by family and friends has being a “complainer” if something is not done wright, or the products has a problem I complain and I don’t give up, usually it gets resolved, but everything takes time and work, I think it is so people get annoyed and give up.
My cooktop is going on 3 years old and although I’m very careful with it, it has some scratches and in some places has lost the shine, it looks like they polished it with something and that has since been removed, it looks like it is always dirty funnily enough it lost the shine after the 2 year mark of the warranty.
About people not following trough that is something I had to endure a lot when renovating the house, and what irks me is that the same people that said they would later send me the quote for x job and didn’t are the same complaining that the economy is bad and that they have no work, what they don’t have is the will to work. I contacted at least 6 companies to repair our doors and only one presented a quote, a very high quote, and after several months we ended doing it ourselves. The same for the windows, the company that did the 1st floor keep postponing the visit for the measures of the ground floor and I had to look for another company, they did the job but took 6 months with me constantly calling and prodding, they were so disorganized that they charged me a lot less than the quote.
