If you want to dive into it, there might be less obfuscated info about the DB schema and how the system interacts with it in the factory images used for the JailBreak.

Don't hesitate to go back as far as the original Kindle Touch image (and/or the very early ones from Kubrick), it probably already supported that, and was probably way less obfuscated.
