The thing is, the majority of users on the forum seem to be in the US. (Or at least more deals are posted for Amazon US than the other regional Amazons.) It makes more sense for non-US users to edit the link because there's less of them.

You don't have to search for the book, just copy the link, paste it into the URL box, lop off the https://smile. at the beginning and hit enter. You don't even have to add in the www, Amazon automatically redirects it properly. You can do this on both desktop and mobile. Often you can even do this to find the book on your own regional Amazon by replacing the .com with .co.uk, or .ca or .jp and so on. The deals aren't usually good across regions, though, so that may be of limited use.

I would like to suggest you send Amazon some feedback that they should have the smile links redirect to the proper book page for non-US users, though. They need to know it's an issue for them. At the same time, it would be nice if they'd allow non-US visitors who buy from the US site to also pick a charity to donate to, even if's restricted to US-based ones. Maybe also tell them that if you'd be interested in it.
