A filter has to fit the screen, and adds something more to carry, glasses have to be worn and also add something to carry.
Waterproofing a ereader was, and possibly still is, seen as a very niche move and yet here we are with the majority of high end and a growing mid range being waterproof.
Personally right now a 6 inch color screen doesn't appeal to me. But if Kobo released a Forma 2 with color screen (and some other enhancements), I'd be tempted. Is it a make or break feature for me? No. But it's also not one I'd dismiss so wholly as you seem to be.
