You pick the charity you want Amazon to donate to. When I click on a smile.amazon link even from someone else, the charitable donation goes to my local high school's drama program. It does not go to a charity chosen by the poster of the link. If you're in the US, I'd encourage you to go to smile.amazon.com and choose a charity. It doesn't cost you anything.

I sympathize if for whatever reason the link doesn't work for you. I'm planning to continue to use it when I share a link, but certainly won't be offended if other people choose not to. Either way, people may have to modify the links to meet their needs.
