Only ever seen mentioned using a cable with kobo or kindle when using calibre. Is this similar to CC or just wireless transfer of a file?
The content server is more than a just a Wireless way to push books to your device (technically, that would be the Wireless device connection and AFAIK only CC offers a Calibre WDC socket on your device. From Calibre, it looks pretty much like a USB connection).

Have you ever looked at your Library using a Browser (via Content server )?
That is a a basic WEB page like you use frequently. You navigate: Choose a book: Click download (a PULL): THEN, you need to use the device to MOVE the book to where your reading App expects books. The view may differ depending on whether your browser ask for the Desktop or the Mobile view. Other than that... they are pretty much functionally the same.
