Don't see a problem with the "GPU share" if it's just opt in
Also agree on revisiting the donations system to include more options.
Maybe also creating some time limited campaigns to raise money, as a "fund me" type, to get more impact for donors. It could be an annual event or just to speed up some specific features or plugins.
