I think, but am not positive, that e-ink Kindles no longer keep Amazon content when de-registered.

There are several users on the Amazon forums that are knowledgeable about using Kindles in locations other than the US. I'd post over there.

The forums are found by going to Amazon HELP, scroll down and select NEED MORE HELP, then select ASK THE DIGITAL AND DEVICE COMMUNITY.

Personally, I suggest using Calibre to store all of your books, and don't worry about which store they came from.

This has nothing to do with Amazon being bullies, but it does have to do with them operating under the various e-book laws pertaining to each country.
