do it in reverse. It is a Bias applied from the previous sort.
{Date} then {Authors} will bias Authors in date order.
IIRC Calibre defaults allow 5 levels of bias. There is a Tweak you can reduce.

LOTS OF REALLY GOOD STUFF if used carefully.
As a new user, take a few and read (delay making
adjustments for a bit) the descriptions. Some have very good reasons for NOT doing the change (reducing delays. Those can get us banned from useful metadata or trigger anti-SPAM/DOS measures at ISPs)
