Jepson, Edgar: The Gillingham Rubies (1912); v1; 19 July 2020

Early Edgar Jepson, and a very early comic crime caper novel. A cast of eccentric peers and oddball detectives, a stately home/castle with a secret room containing a fortune in ruby jewellery, and a motley crew of thieves led by a notorious woman jewel thief and abetted by an African "explorer" of flexible morals.

Prepared from the 1912 serial as published in several Australian newspapers. Some chapters lack titles, a lack consistent across all the newspapers it was published in.

61,000 words.
