I don't know. The text seems equally dark on both readers. But then the fuzzier text and grayer background... I could see someone saying it looks washed out.

I'm the one that said I could still read on my Nook ST, so I'm not picking on the older Kindle. Just saying that it clearly looks less nice than the newer.
