On a greyscale e-ink reader, I fail to see how glossy is a benefit. Even the PW4 isn't really glossy. It's just less matte compared to the PW3.

The PW4 popular because it's a Kindle which has a good mix of features and sells at an affordable price especially during frequent sales. I've got multiple of them (JB backups) but if a more matte display similar to PW3 was an option, I would've preferred that.
