I expected this book to show up on my 2020 Goodreads Year Timeline aa the most popular book I’ve read to date (it did!). However I did not expect it to show up as my most highly rated book of the year (avg 4.25 stars). I feel like it is so popular because of the uniqueness of the concept and the movie-adaptability. The writing just had so much more potential. I say that as someone who enjoys reading children and young adult books. I am curious if the writing improves in the rest of the series.
