Iirc, @jhowell explained before that the “cover bug” users are complaining about is intentional behavior on Amazon’s part on the newer firmwares.

I have a couple of Kindles primarily used with Kindle Unlimited that I allow to automatically update just to see what’s new in the latest firmwares. Frankly, there’s been no noteworthy features that I find worth updating for. I actually find the new Aa menu annoying.

Still happily using 5.9.6.1 on my JB PW3s and 5.10.1.3 on my JB PW4s.
