I would strongly suggest moving your library from Dropbox back to your local storage. A quick search will find multiple threads about issues with calibre and cloud storage.

Check the calibre FAQ entry: I am getting errors with my calibre library on a networked drive/NAS?. And yes, a very common item in the complaints about corrupted libraries/files is "I've been doing this for years and never had any problems.".
