If no device limit is listed on the book's product page at amazon it can be assumed to be 6.

Your book purchases are tied to your account, not to any device. It is the specific copy on the device that is tied to the device. You can safely deregister all the old kindle for PC instances and all books will still be in your account.

(I also agree that dumping windows for linux should be considered.)
