I'm not familiar with this new-ish author/series but it looks like exactly the sort of thing I like - a historical mystery, in a time/period I'm not really familiar with. The reviews aren't uniformly great, but some of the things some folks complain about (e.g. "too much explanation") are the sorts of things I often like about historical mysteries...
