If you were using the GUI, you would not be asking for help because the GUI is MUCH easier to use the the command line. So your KISS is not working because you are doing it backwards. Use the GUI if you wand KISS. If you don't then do it your more difficult way.

Also, using the GUI makes it easier to find books, change metadata, edit them, store them, and easier to do all the things you are trying to do from the CLI. You are not doing anything easier. You are doing everything much more difficult.

And if you want to strip the DRM, good luck with that from the CLI.

One more thing that's much easier from the GUI is side loading. Side loading doesn't work from the CLI.
