Bolding mine.
As we've seen the typical battery life for these devices is measured in years, with the average being over half a decade, longer if wifi is off and so on. Further, because of these changes we've also seen water resistance being added, and while you may not care about that feature, there's evidence enough that people do care.
If the manufactures were truly conspiring to make you replace your ereader along the lines of the battery, they'd not release new generations of devices so frequently. That's R&D money, it's marketing, it's getting through all the regulations, etc. that would be (for a nefarious manufacture) better spent lining their coffers. Then they put out a marginally improved device every 6-7 years or so when the majority of batteries are starting to show their age.
Instead we're getting device refreshes every 2 years or so, a rather drastic difference from when consumers would be looking to replace their ereader when the battery died.

i would strongly suggest it's obvious why the manufacturer's glue in the non-replaceable battery just like they do in the so called smart phones.
what you call a refresh i call basically the same static ereader with a few minor enhancement's/feature's. water resistance (as you say) and the Comfort Light Pro orangey/yellowy light.
i accept that people have different opinions than me and may want these features, therefore i don't feel the need to call them a fool just because they have an opposing opinion to mine.
by all means question my comments/opinion if you disagree with me that's the whole point of any forum, but there is no need to call someone a fool just because you don't agree/like what they are saying.
of course it's entirely up to how you conduct yourself on here. personally i believe in taking on the point the person is making rather than using abusive words like fool. i believe in politeness at all times.
