If I had a PW3 (well, I do but it is on loan to a friend), I would be having the same question as JSWolf. There does not seem to be any technical reason why it would not get the same updates as the Voyage, as it has in the past. It is a perfectly reasonable expectation to have.
Unfortunately we don’t have a Kindle developer or product manager here to explain things, so idle speculation is about all we can bring to the discussion (which of course could have its own thread for those interested in carrying on with one).
If I were to speculate, they messed up somewhere along the way and have bricked some PW3’s and had to pull the update pending a broader investigation into the causes. I say this as someone whose Voyage got bricked by an update earlier this year (CS blamed me for doing something ‘wrong’, though it is not clear how that could be true). There are more PW3s in circulation so the bar to ensure they have actually fixed the issue is higher.
