update 2: i logged out and in which reset my database, and it still doesn't work as expected.

update 3: even though the bookmarks/annotations section says there are no bookmarks, if i choose remove all and hit yes, the bent ear bookmark icon disappears from the page i bookmarked.

i also tried the repair account option in the settings. no change..
