First I got an error message that I couldn't remove books from the device ("Your Kobo is running an updated firmware/database version. As calibre does not know about this updated firmware, database editing is disabled, to prevent corruption....")
It's a simular message as in the following thread:
https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=295238
When I first got the error, I didn't write it down. I can't give the device database and firmware version, because the device won't connect anymore.

That message says the device has a later firmware version than calibre knows about. The instructions in the message are the ones to follow. calibre 4.20 should have the update.

I chose to override the check, but now calibre can't read the booklist from my device. I don't get an error, but Calibre will continue to try to read the booklist. I gave up after about an hour.
I tried updating Calibre, but that didn't help. I now use version 4.19.0
I tried using the repair option for calibre, but that didn't help either.

Calibre shouldn't take an hour to connect to the device. Do the connection jobs start? Are they running all the time? If so, which ones? Or if they are not being run, is the device seen by the PC at all?
