I know what you mean. The quality authors like Mercedes Lackey, who manage the churn out 4 or 5 quality books a year consistently for 30+ years are quite rare. I don't like all her books, but she's still putting out some pretty solid books. Most of the ones that I've really liked seem to have a period of about 10-15 years when they do their best work, then they slow down. If Butcher is back on track, then I'm good with it.
