The library is on my sd card, and it has always seen it before. (using the library on cloud method). I have never 'fetched' my books in the first place. I just chose the cloud for source, and chose the proper folder. I had this problem the first time, but don't remember how I had to fix it.
I am using the full version Amazon app. Before I did the reset, I listed all my app settings for all apps I have, and put them back the way I had them.
