I put the Series Index into the title field Before the title. IMHO the number sorted is more important ###-epic_title
Older kindles supported the Kindle Collections plugin, which is where I put the series name
(note) No special fields required. The templates in the Plugboard (or send filenames) build 'on the fly' and self maintain later use with changes
