Walmart seemed like more of the old fashioned way. If Kobo were doing the store within a store deal, at the very least the Kobo displays would have been better. Plus Walmart Kobos come with a Walmart sleep screen and in the US you can sign in to Kobo with a Walmart account.

We're all on the outside looking in, but from what's available, it seems that Walmart and kobo reached an agreement and then when zero hour approached, Walmart did the bare minimum. (I assume it's Walmart here because Kobo had more reason to be invested in the partnership.)
