The metadata download plugins can only modify the core metadata fields. This doesn't include the page or word count. There are versions of some metadata download plugins that cheat and add these values to other field. They then have a second plugin to move the values to the correct field. And there is the Count Pages plugin that can download page count from several sites.

The Import List plugin is another way to do it if you have the data in another format.
