(Amazon have reportedly redeployed a significant percentage of staff working on the Kindle to other lab126 projects, notably a likely somewhat embryonic, perhaps pie-in-the-sky covid-19 testing initiative. This is not exactly proprietary information as it was all over the trade press a few weeks ago... and yes, your guess is as good as mine what good a bunch of big-embedded software developers can do for covid-19 testing. I guess for any portable solution there'll be some embedded software development required, and some of it might well be on the kinda-mobile-phone-sized platforms the Kindle team have experience with.)
